Chiropractic Questions

  • Chiropractic is the art and science of treating neuromuskuloskeletal disorders by removing subluxation in the spine in order to relieve associated stress placed on the nervous system and other structures. The term subluxation is used to define segments in the spine that are not in alignment, which affects the function of the brain and the nervous system. This can lead to a cascade of issues that destroy overall health, such as changes in posture, release of inflammation, and release of stress hormones like cortisol. Inflammation increases ones sensitivity, while stress hormones encourage a higher heart rate and blood pressure. Overall, these effects are harmful to the body long term and can lead to the development of many other symptoms if left uncorrected.

The first part of your appointment is dedicated to reviewing your history and covering any additional questions the Doctor has concerning your case. Then a comprehensive exam will be done, including 3 objective scans perfectly safe for any newborn, child or pregnant mom. These scans provide a deeper look into the neuromuscluloskeletal system and are used to assess progression of care by measuring HRV (heart rate variability/stress), SEMG (muscle tension), and Thermal (inflammation). After interpreting the scans along with your examination findings, the Doctor will provide a diagnosis and recommend a care plan tailored to fit your needs. Care can begin during your first visit!

Chiropractic is often dramatized on TikTok, YouTube, and the media to be rough and loud. However, chiropractic can be very gentle! While we are not responsible for how other chiropractors conduct their practice, it is essential to note that Dr. Bronson is considerate of any fears you may have while seeking treatment. She is educated in several different chiropractic techniques to serve all ages. In fact, one particular technique called Activator utilizes a small instrument to deliver light force, and involves no twisting or popping!

Although many patients may see immediate initial results, it is important to note that chiropractic is not a quick fix to any issue one might be experiencing. Every patient under our care will initially receive care plan recommendations that may be adjusted according to the patient’s progress. After any care plan we recommend monthly wellness care to all patients to maintain health! Just as prevention is better than repair, your body is capable of healing itself every minute of every day.

Absolutely! It is easier to grow healthy children than to repair damaged adults. Issues seen in children can originate as early as their position in utero and birth trauma. Chiropractic can help throughout your child’s development by encouraging a healthy neuromusculoskeletal system. It is especially important to have your child checked during rapid growth spurts, important milestones, after childhood falls, frequent sickness, and so much more!

Symptoms are what occur after damage has been done to the body. Often, the damage has been building up over time, and the symptoms are what develop when the damage reaches your threshold for pain. Think of an iceberg; what you see above the surface may only be 20% of the iceberg. The rest is hiding under the surface. You may not be experiencing pain or difficulty, but if your spine is not aligned, your brain detects a problem and begins releasing stress hormones and inflammatory agents that are harmful long-term. Chiropractic focuses on detecting the issues that you may overlook and correcting them to stop the problem before symptoms occur.

Business Questions

We do not accept insurance because we do not wish to limit our care plan for you. Insurance companies operate on a “pathogenic model” of health care, often relying on drugs and surgery to combat illness. Chiropractic operates on the “salutogenic model” of health care, emphasizing the importance of investing in your health to mitigate and prevent illness. Most insurance does not cover chiropractic care for children, which is a large population of our practice. We love not accepting insurance because we can offer affordable care and spend our time and energy on you and your family instead of negotiating with insurance companies.
